Screening as the final processing step is becoming increasingly important in the treatment of almost all kinds of raw materials. This is particularly evident in preparing secondary raw materials and biogenic residuals for uses such as biomass, compost or solid fermentation feedstock. Whether for high quality fertilizer or high quality fuel, product requirements have become steadily more demanding in recent years.
Good sorting of feedstocks is crucial for the quality of secondary raw materials, but biodegradable waste in particular suffers from increasing amounts of contraries and contaminants, like plastic bags, metal and rocks. These complicate processing immensely, making effective screening that much more critical.
Screening technology makes the difference

The Multistar mobile star screens can split biomass into up to three fractions in one pass, while at the same time breaking up clumps. What’s more, the operator can change the grain size of the fractions within seconds from the control panel. The new Multistar One and S3: Rounding out the range at the lower end
The new Multistar One star screen makes treatment of waste wood and biomass even more efficient. An upstream Crambo or Terminator does the shredding. The new Multistar One then separates out a defined useful fraction while returning overlengths to the shredder. With a feed hopper for precise material transfer to the generously dimensioned screen deck, a discharge conveyor with four meter cone height and a return conveyor that can pivot through 220°, the new One is ready to provide a throughput of up to 200 cubic meters per hour.
With its very compact crane lift frame, variable conveyors for flexible setup and electric drive, it is a very economical machine.
The Multistar S3 is another entry-level machine. Likewise a crane lift design, this three-fraction star screen is very compact, while its large 3.5 cubic meter hopper and low loading height make it a good choice for medium-scale operators who don’t want to do without Komptech star screen performance. Numerous options like wind sifting in the medium fraction, switching from three to two fractions, and much more, enable the Multistar S3 to adapt to a wide variety of site conditions and user needs.
