The food chain produces a lot of organic waste which needs managing. Traditionnal ways of dealing with this waste are not sustainable. Hauling the waste from the point of production to centralised facilities adds cost and increases the carbon footprint of the waste.
That’s why one of our customer, SeaB Energy, a world specialist in green energy, has developed a containerised anaerobic digester which turns organic waste into free energy, right at the point where the waste is generated and the energy is required.
Thanks to this patented process, the organic waste fermentation produces biogas : the energy that remains in food waste is captured and used to fuel an engine to provide electricity and heat. SEaB Energy chose to fit out its containers with our modular plastical Archimedys screw conveyor : indeed, settled at the bottom of the hopper, Archimedys screw conveyor has got many advantages.
With its simple and compact design, Archimedys screew conveyor is very light in weight in comparison to stainless steel conveyor : it can be easily handled and installed and it doesn’t make any noise during operation.
Moreover, Archimedys modules have got a particular geometry so that Archimedys screw can be used without any intermediate bearings.
Furthermore, due to its modularity, when the Archimedys screw conveyor needs to be repaired, you only have to change the damaged module and not the entire screw which also reduces maintenance life cycle costs.
