This is the fourth Fuchs® machine he has had in the last fifteen years. The MHL860F also works alongside an MHL350D FQC machine. Jesus Santos is the only scrap recycling centre in Spain working with an electric machine and is currently installing another source of electric power in his yard to expand in the future.
They have worked in the past with SB, LH and Case but chose Fuchs for a variety of reasons.
According to plant operator Alfredo Vinas, “The Fuchs machine has more stability and comfort than the others. After travelling to Poland to see a similar machine and trying it out I know it was the machine for us.” The easy access to the service platform was also a big factor as well as the fact that electric machines consume a lot less than their diesel counterparts. “Apart from the surge of power when we start the machine up there is hardly any electric consumption”, Senor Vinas told us.
Jesus Santos S.A. receives material from many of the factories and car breakers around the Valladolid area as well as from his own demolition jobs where he uses the Fuchs MHL350D with a shear. After processing the material it then goes to foundries around Spain and Portugal.
The Fuchs MHL860F is used with an in-built generator and a 0.8m3 half-closed grab. After having taking charge of the machine in the New Year it has already racked up almost 400 hours in the first two months. According to plant manager Carlos Santos they process around 7,000-10,000t per month making the new MHL860F a vital part of the process.Click here for more informationClick here for related articlesSearch for material handler manufacturers in our Equipment Guide
