Efficient Shredding of Paper Rejects – Energy Production with UNTHA

23 Oct 2025  |
The paper industry worldwide is strongly committed to sustainability and the circular economy. This is reflected in high recycling rates as well as in the use of bioenergy and substitute fuels. The use of substitute fuels (RDF) is helping the paper industry to significantly reduce its consumption of coal, gas, and oil, and is having a positive impact on the utilization of non-recyclable waste materials. Many players in the paper industry create closed cycles within their companies by independently processing pulper ropes and paper rejects into RDF and using it directly for energy supply.

UNTHA shredders are an important link in this cycle. One example can be found in Turkey, at paper manufacturer KIVANÇ Adana:

Ali Karagöl’s team gathered information about similar applications at companies around the world. After initial contact with UNTHA Türkiye, an extended trial with an UNTHA shredder took place at the company. The team was thoroughly impressed by the machine and quickly decided to invest in the XR3000C – an energy-efficient and powerful single-shaft shredder. The C-cutting system ensures constant material feed and optimal shredding to a size of 80 mm. The shredder impressed above all with its high throughput of around 20 t/h, consistent performance, low energy costs and robust design.
