Pellenc ST Launches Mistral+ CONNECT Optical Sorter

In recent years, sorting centres have been facing increasingly complex and diversified waste streams. As a result, operators must continuously modernise their industrial equipment and adopt technologies capable of adapting to evolving operational requirements. Providing sustainable, flexible, and high-performance solutions has therefore become essential. It is in this context that Pellenc ST developed the Mistral+ CONNECT™ optical sorter.

The Mistral+ CONNECT™ retains the robust all-in-one design concept of the Mistral+ Full Package™ sorting system. This equipment, certified by TÜV Rheinland, integrates a high-speed conveyor belt, a detection system, and an ejection hood to ensure consistent performance throughout the entire sorting process. Designed as a complete ergonomic system, the machine is easy to install and offers safe and convenient access for operators. Thanks to its integrated platform access, operators can safely enter the output box for maintenance operations without needing to stop the sorting line to clean lights or scanners.

Equipped with the latest generation of detection technologies, this new range of machines delivers exceptional sorting performance. The innovative FLOW™ Detection system combines an advanced spectrometer covering an extended NIR/VIS spectrum with focused illumination. This combination enables the recovery of materials with very high purity levels. In particular, the FLOW™ Detection system significantly improves the detection and separation of paper and cardboard in sorting centres.

To further support operators in improving operational performance, Pellenc ST has integrated a series of sensors as standard across the Full Package range, alongside services that can be delivered either remotely or on site. The SMART&SHARE™ application collects operational data that can be used to record and analyse equipment incidents, helping to prevent breakdowns or blockages while providing insights into the distribution and composition of processed waste streams. By analysing this data in collaboration with Pellenc ST experts, operators can implement targeted corrective actions to optimise both equipment availability and sorting efficiency.

Finally, Pellenc ST ensures the long-term adaptability of its equipment. Already recognised for the modularity of its machines, the company now introduces “Future Proof” capabilities for all Mistral+ CONNECT™ models. This adaptability is enabled by theCentral Nervous System™ (CNS) software platform, which is included as standard. The CNS allows operators to integrate future technologies and Pellenc ST scanners—such as IIoT connectivity, watermarking systems, and artificial intelligence—through scalableupgrades.

The Mistral+ CONNECT™ therefore represents a new benchmark for operators seeking to modernise their facilities and meet the evolving standards of Industry 4.0 sorting centres.
