IFAT Munich 2028 runs from 29 May to 1 June 2028 at Messe München in Munich, Germany. It is the world’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management, and the single most important meeting point of the international environmental technology industry.
For recyclers, IFAT is where the full chain is on display at operating scale: collection vehicles and containers, shredders, granulators and balers, screens and air separators, near-infrared and AI-driven sorting, wash lines, and the downstream equipment that turns sorted fractions into marketable secondary raw materials. Battery, WEEE, textile and construction and demolition waste streams have all gained dedicated space as their volumes have grown.
The supporting programme covers EU policy on the circular economy and end-of-waste criteria, recycled content targets, digital product passports, and the practical questions of plant availability, energy use and personnel. Live demonstrations on the outdoor grounds remain one of the fair’s defining features.
