TRIMET Aluminium SE is a family-owned aluminum company headquartered in Essen, Germany. According to the company, it develops, produces, recycles, casts and markets aluminum products at eight locations, supplying customers in automotive, aerospace, renewable energy, construction and packaging.
Aluminum recycling and scrap processing
Besides securing primary aluminum supply, TRIMET describes recycling as a core part of its business. The company takes back aluminum scrap generated in its customers’ manufacturing processes and recasts it into new products according to the customer’s requirements. TRIMET states that some of its aluminum products contain up to 95 percent recycled material.
In October 2026 TRIMET opened a facility in Hamm, Germany, for processing and sorting aluminum scrap. The plant uses laser-based LIBS analysis to assign scrap to material fractions, separates it with air jets and compacts the sorted material into bales for transport and melting. It is designed to process up to 40,000 metric tons of aluminum scrap per year.
Alloys and delivery forms
TRIMET’s product range includes wrought alloys, foundry alloys and special alloys, supplied in a range of delivery forms. The company integrates its scrap processing into the production planning of its aluminum smelters, casthouses and recycling plants, so that recycled raw materials can be allocated to specific alloys.
