MDF Removal In Wood Recycling

The third largest panelboard producer in Europe relies on TOMRA’s advanced x-ray and deep learning-based wood sorting technology to remove MDF and create high-quality recycled content.

Equipped with the latest X-ray and deep learning-based wood sorting technology, our customer purifies wood chips and creates high-purity fractions of non-processed wood. As a first step, X-TRACT™ removes contaminants such as metals, stones, plastic, and many more. In the second step, TOMRA’s GAIN™ deep learning-based technology purifies a mix of unprocessed and processed wood. Thanks to the powerful neural networks, GAIN™ makes it possible to detect and remove MDF from the stream. Using the latest sorting technology from TOMRA enables the customer to create a clean unprocessed wood fraction that is suitable for the manufacture of wood products with up to 55% recycled content. With TOMRA waste wood sorting solutions, you benefit from:

  • High throughput and fast processing
  • Maximum yield and high purity levels
  • Robust and flexible sorting systems
  • A partner with industry expertise at your side
