Focused on bast fiber processing
The CTC specifically focuses on bast fiber processing, with a keen emphasis on flax and hemp. The center can also handle byproducts of these fibers, such as shives and tow. The line’s working width is 1500mm, which aligns with the typical working width of real-life installations.
Simulating a complete production line
The CTC goes beyond a mere testing facility. It serves as a dynamic hub where customers can collaborate with Cretes experts to test their own materials and experience the capabilities of Cretes technologies in real-world settings. “We simulate an entire production line here, ” explains
Stefaan Declerck, CEO of Cretes. “This allows us to demonstrate the possibilities of our machines to customers, ranging from capacity tests to quality analysis and input material comparison.”

Sustainability in practice
The CTC embodies not only technological prowess but also a commitment to sustainability. The walls are constructed from hemp-based building blocks sourced from the Belgian company Isohemp. This reinforces Cretes’ dedication to a circular economy.
Official opening and international interest
The CTC officially opened in March 2024, and the first successful tests have already been completed. In addition to testing for Belgian customers, trials have been conducted for clients from France, the Netherlands, the USA, Australia, and even China!
