The last week, AMUT attended the official inauguration of R3GID, Recover, Recycle, Regenerate Plastic, the new rigid-plastics recycling facility developed by Aliplast, part of Hera Group, in Modena. The plant, equipped with AMUT recycling technology, marks a significant step forward for advanced plastics recycling in Italy and Europe.

AMUT President, Piergianni Milani and CEO, Mauro Drappo joined the ceremony which was attended by industry and institutions with the participation of Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Italy’s Minister for the Environment and Energy Security.

The new strategic recycling hub, at full capacity can process up to 30,000 tonnes per year of rigid polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) waste from municipal and industrial sources. The facility transforms materials that are often difficult to recycle into high-purity secondary raw materials, with a purity above 99% and properties comparable to virgin fossil-based polymers.

The project represents a total investment of €48.8 million, including €7.7 million in funding from Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan. It is designed to supply recycled polymers to strategic manufacturing sectors including packaging and automotive.

For AMUT, R3GID demonstrates the value of Made in Italy and custom-engineering, in building the recycling infrastructure needed to meet growing demand for high-quality recycled materials.

“R3GID is a clear example of how innovation and Made in Italy technology can turn plastic waste into a strategic resource for industry, said Piergianni Milani. We thank Aliplast and the Hera Group for their trust in our technology and look forward to a long-lasting collaboration in advancing plastics circularity.”
