Shredding of Production Waste to Make it Easier to Recycle

21 Apr 2021  |
The shredding of production waste to make it easier to recycle has become the norm in modern production facilities. However, shredding residues directly to shredders where they actually occur is less common.

In many cases, waste is collected on the production line and disposed of manually at regular intervals. This method can cause breakdowns, occupies an important place in the production line and is associated with considerable handling costs.

This is also the case at Koenig & Bauer Sheetfed AG & Co. KG. The punching frames made of tetra pack accumulate in a specified number of pieces/20 seconds and must be shredded just in time to avoid a material jam. For this purpose, the AZK 1000 from Reinbold shreds a pack of 60mm in height (this corresponds to approx. 120 sheets 80x50cm in the specified time. The remaining free-flowing material can then be easily disposed of by means of a suction device.

The AZK 1000 with its 50 corner knives is also easy to maintain and well equipped for universal use. For example, the AZK has a cut-out for a conveyor belt as standard to ensure easy removal, a second row of knives and a fast-hydraulic system for increased throughput, as well as a generous opening in the housing for easy inspection of the rotor.

If you also have ideas on how to make your production more effective, we would be pleased to advise you.
