Maximizing LDPE recovery | TOMRA Success Story | AUTOSORT™ SPEEDAIR

Recycling flexible packaging presents a significant challenge due to the multilayer composition of materials like polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP). However, Bakcycle Recycling, a leading recycler in Turkey, has successfully overcome these obstacles using TOMRA’s advanced sorting technology.

Bakcycle ensures that their recycled material meets the highest quality standards for flexible packaging production by specializing in producing high-purity, low-density polyethylene (LDPE) granules recover from post-consumer packaging waste.

To achieve this, Bakcycle Recycling integrated three AUTOSORT™ SPEEDAIR systems into its sorting line. This innovative solution is specifically designed for high-speed film sorting, using a controlled airflow system to stabilize lightweight materials and ensure precise separation.

The first two AUTOSORT™ SPEEDAIR units separate transparent LDPE from other materials, while the third refines the process even further by distinguishing transparent LDPE from transparent LLDPE.

The sorting process continues with two additional AUTOSORT™ systems, which efficiently separate mixed-color and white LDPE, ensuring maximum material purity.

To enhance efficiency and performance, Bakcycle Recycling also leverages TOMRA Insight, a cloud-based data platform that provides real-time monitoring and data-driven process optimization.

Thanks to this combination of advanced sorting technology and digital solutions, Bakcycle Recycling achieves an outstanding 98% purity rate. This enables them to produce high-quality recycled LDPE granules, supporting the growing demand for sustainable and circular packaging solutions.
