Machinex is pleased to announce the appointment of Jon Gertsmeier as Technology Sales Manager, a newly created position supporting the company's continued expansion of its AI-powered sorting technologies. With more than 15 years of experience in the waste and recycling industry, Gertsmeier brings extensive expertise in technology sales, industrial automation, and strategic partnerships across North America.

A recognized professional in the recycling industry, Gertsmeier has played a key role in advancing the adoption of AI-powered sorting solutions, securing major enterprise agreements, and developing long-standing relationships with national and regional waste and recycling organizations. His experience spans single-stream recycling, municipal solid waste, construction and demolition, and electronic waste, giving him a broad understanding of the operational challenges and technology needs across these sectors.

In his new role, Gertsmeier will lead business development efforts for MIND™, Machinex’s unified AI platform, and its growing technology portfolio of advanced sorting technologies. He will work closely with customers to identify opportunities to integrate AI into their operations, enhance sorting performance, improve material recovery, and gain actionable insights into facility performance.

“Machinex has built a strong reputation for engineering expertise, innovation, and understanding the operational realities of recycling facilities. What I am looking forward to the most is the opportunity to bring that expertise together with the capabilities of MIND™ to deliver practical, high-performance AI solutions” said Gertsmeier. “My priority will be to work closely with customers to identify where these technologies can make a measurable difference in their operations.”

“Jon brings a strong combination of industry knowledge, technology expertise, and established relationships across the waste and recycling sector,” said Chris Hawn, CEO of Machinex Technologies. “He understands both the challenges our customers face and the opportunities that advanced technologies can deliver. His appointment reflects our commitment to expanding our technology offerings and helping more facilities realize the full potential of AI-driven sorting.”

Attendees at MRF Operations Forum and Paper and Plastic Recycling Conference, taking place October 26–29, 2026, are invited to visit Machinex at Booth 302, to meet Gertsmeier and connect with the team to learn more about Machinex’s equipment, technology, and solutions for material recovery facilities.
