Innovative Plant Designed by STADLER for Eco.Ge.Ri

Porcarelli Group is an Italian company that operates across the entire waste chain – from collection to transport, all the way to the valorization of waste as raw materials. Luciano Porcarelli, co-owner of the group with his brother Giuseppe, explains: "Our company was founded over 50 years ago out of the conviction that waste can replace raw materials in industry, safeguarding natural resources."

The Group operates five plants with the aim of returning waste into the production cycle, reducing the consumption of virgin raw materials and energy. To date, its plants have recovered over 3 million tonnes of recyclable fractions.

Innovative Conveying Belts for Plastic Recycling

Globally, companies are increasing their plastic recycling initiatives to mitigate the harmful effects of the material on the environment. In Europe, under The EU Waste Framework Directive, all member states must increase their level of recycling of municipal waste to 60 per cent by 2030.

To reach these targets, countries will need more recycling facilities with faster, wider, and more complex sorting lines to cater for a higher throughput of waste.

Bespoke QC Conveyor that Maximises Productivity Inside and Innovative MRF

Following on from their ground-breaking robotic project in 2021, Omagh-based recycling company, RECYCO, and REP-TEC have teamed up, once again, on a new conveyor project. RECYCO, who were the first in Ireland to take ownership of a waste robotics system, now required a bespoke QC conveyor for their fibre line. Innovative ZS-B MEGAfeed Side Feeder Makes Plastics Recycling Markedly More Economical

With the goal of making recycling of lightweight, high-volume fiber and flake recyclate much more economical and, in some cases even possible, Coperion has developed a new version of its ZS-B side feeder. Using the innovative ZS-B MEGAfeed, plastic recyclate with a bulk density under 200 kg/m³, long considered intake-limited and thus not worth recycling, can be reliably fed in large quantities into Coperion’s ZSK twin screw extruder and be concurrently recycled and compounded. | Read more »
